How do Timeless Stay Awards work?

What are Timeless Stay Awards?

Timeless Stay Awards are a premium benefit award in the Journey loyalty program that allows awarded status members to request both early check-in and late check-out at participating Journey Alliance Partner properties. This feature enhances flexibility and luxury during our member's travel experience.

How They Work

Earning Timeless Stay Awards

Timeless Stay Awards are earned as members progress through Journey's six elite status tiers:

  • Nomad tier (18,000 points): Earns 1 Timeless Stay Award

  • Navigator tier (50,000 points): Earns 2 Timeless Stay Awards

  • Higher tiers maintain access to these awards and earn incremental awards for various tiers.

Redemption Process

When redeeming a Timeless Stay Award, the process follows these steps:

  1. Locate the Award: You can find timeless stay awards that you have earned on the "Wallet" tab of the Journey Mobile app.

  2. Trip Selection: When you click "redeem" on the award, you need to select a stay for it to apply to. If you only have one stay/trip, it defaults to that one, or if many, you can select the trip/stay. A current trip is required to use the award.

    1. Timeless stay awards are currently not transferrable but can be used on pooled trips.

  3. Time Selection: Members can select their desired check-in time as early as 8:00 AM (when standard check-in is usually 3-4 PM) and late check-out as late as 5:00 PM. All times are in the hotel/property timezone.

  4. Approval Process: The request goes through various states:

    • Pending: Request submitted and awaiting property response

    • Confirmed: Partner approved the request (some approvals are automatic)

    • Declined: Property doesn't have availability at this time

    • Modified: Property proposes alternate times (member must accept or cancel)

Key Restrictions

Important restrictions include:

  • Valid only at Journey Alliance Partner properties

  • Redemption cutoff is 48 hours prior to check-in

  • Cannot be redeemed more than once per stay (which makes sense :) ).

  • Only one active Timeless Stay Award at a time per user

  • Members can edit their desired times up until check-in

  • Members can remove the award entirely up until 48 hours before the stay

The Timeless Stay Value Proposition & How It's Different

With traditional hotel loyalty programs, early check-in and late check-out are often subject to availability and can't be guaranteed. Timeless Stays, although they do require that it is POSSIBLE to check-in early or check-out late (meaning the room type is available and will be cleaned in time OR, for late check-out, the room or property is not booked for that same day/evening.

The Timeless Stay Award represents Journey's approach to providing tangible, bookable benefits rather than uncertain perks, aligning with our philosophy of creating a more member-friendly loyalty experience for travelers who prefer independent, boutique properties over chain hotels.
